Lloyd drops his own verse on EMPIRE Presents: Voices For Change, Vol. 1 titled “They Don't Care.”
Lloyd does not release music all that often, so we like to pay attention when he does. The r'n'b singer has been around for awhile, yet he's always remained relatively elusive and low-key as far as imprint in the rap (or r'n'b, rather) game. In 2018, as you can remember, he dropped his album Tru, the album cover artwork infamously showing Lloyd with basically nothing but his guitar on. And since the album came out, he's only showed up a few times on our radar.
Fortunately, distribution through EMPIRE managed to lure Lloyd out of hiding, and for a good cause. EMPIRE has teamed up to produce a compilation album entitled Voices for Change with their musicians. Today, Voices for Change is out on streaming platforms, with proceeds going to the ACLU.
Lyrics Snippet
A lot of this shit ain't real
They just made up
The government don't like me
They just fear us
Taking our history
Flip it and then fake us
Living the American dream
But all I hear is Murder
