On his new two-pack “Tape Tape,” Lupe Fiasco and Soundtrakk get experimental on melodic “Oh Yes.”
The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Lupe Fiasco is rarely “experimentation.” But the Chicago lyricist is one of the most creative in the game, although he mostly tends to experiment on a conceptual basis.
However, Lupe confidently dives headlong into a more trap-inspired style on his new Soundtrakk produced two-pack Tape Tape, declaring his latest batch to be heavily influenced by the work of Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott. A surprising development on paper, but one that makes sense given the willingness of Lupe to artistically challenge himself.
